Archive collections

The Archive of Science of Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU) is a specialized archive of scientific institutions, established to collect, store and preserve archival materials relating to the history of science and culture.

Archive of Science collects and holds in its repository:

  • archival materials, which are part of the state archival fonds, in compliance with the document of entrustment issued for the PAN (as a governmental organisation) by the Director of State Archives on 6th of March 2002,
  • archival materials, which are part of the non-state archival fonds and are property of the PAU (as a non-governmental organisation).

 

In compliance with the profile of Archive of Sience, its repository is divided in three groups:

Record Group I: the archival materials of the scientific societies and institutions, including Cracow Scientific Society (TNK), the Academy of Arts and Sciences (AU), the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU), and other scientific institutions and societies – link to the list of collections (PL);
Record Group II: the materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences’ (PAN) Cracow branch and Academy units located in the area of its activity – list of collections (PL);
Record Group III: personal archives of scientists, educators and creators of culture – list of collections (PL).
